Writing a eulogy can be overwhelming. However, once you know what content should be included in your eulogy, the task won’t seem so daunting. The process can actually be therapeutic.
Before you begin writing, it is important to remember that the speech is not about you. You are reflecting on and celebrating the life of your loved one. Being asked to deliver a eulogy already speaks to your character and the bond you shared with this person. Give all of the attention and focus to them.
Here is a list of subjects that should be included in a eulogy:
- A brief overview of their life, including key milestones and high points
- Your favorite memories with them, including a specific anecdote or two
- Details about their relationships with close family members and friends
- Any significant accomplishments related to career, interests, or hobbies
At the end of the day, you really just want to give an overview of the person’s life, share some good stories, and leave everyone with happy memories.
